Looking for great fall events? The Jubilee Festival of Arts gets the season started in September and Polo at the Point gives us a reason to wear our fanciest hat in October.
29th Annual Jubilee Festival of Arts
The 29th Annual Jubilee Festival of Arts brings the fresh energy of a wide range of artistic talents to Main Street in Olde Towne Daphne. This year, the traditional art festival is spicing things up by adding pop-up performances, demonstrations from southern makers and two World Food Championship qualifying competitions. The streets will come alive September 23 – 24 and admission is free.
Our September weather is still warm, so you’ll appreciate the location under a canopy of oaks. Here artists will display their original paintings, one-of-a-kind pottery, handcrafted jewelry and unique items that will make special gifts for the upcoming holidays. You should definitely come ready to shop, but that’s not all there is to the festival.
This year the Jubilee Festival of Arts has teamed up with the World Food Championships to host two elite qualifier competitions for sandwich-making and the chef’s challenge. This means that some of our favorite local chefs will be in fierce competition mode as they try to secure a spot in the World Food Championships in Orange Beach this November.
The Jubilee Festival of Arts is hosted by the Eastern Shore Chamber of Commerce and presented by Wind Creek.
For more information on the festival, including the southern makers craft demonstrations, the entertainment schedule and Kids Art Park, check out the Jubilee Festival of Arts Facebook page and website.
Polo at the Point
On October 15, the fun rides in with Polo at the Point at the Sonny Hill Clearwater Polo Complex in Point Clear. It comes in the form of galloping horses, fancy hats, gourmet cuisine, champagne, tailgating, and garden parties, all part of the rich tradition of a world class polo match and a must-attend fall events.
As one of Alabama’s top one-day fundraisers, the premier Gulf Coast charity event will raise money this year for Thomas Hospital and Mitchell Cancer Institute. Polo at the Point is not the same old passive watch-only event. There are numerous ways to participate in the multitude of activities. Grab a fancy hat and join the Hat Parade, bid on one of a kind items during the Silent Auction or stomp around for the funniest part of every polo match – divot stomping!
Hosting the festivities will be Point Clear Charities, Grand Hotel Marriott, and Sonny Hill Clearwater Polo Complex. For prices and a schedule of events go to www.poloatthepoint.com
