Make Memories this Fall at Bellingrath Gardens and Home

mums, Bellingrath

In November, mum’s the word at Bellingrath Gardens and Home – chrysanthemums, that is! Starting on November 10, 2018, the annual Fall Outdoor Cascading Chrysanthemums display is a majesty that’s only in bloom for a fleeting time, and you won’t want to miss it! Truly a feat of horticultural artistry, you and your family can enjoy the beauty through November 21, 2018.

Mums: The Unofficial Flower of Fall

Bellingrath’s Fall Outdoor Cascading Chrysanthemums are the nation’s largest outdoor cascading mum display. Representing autumn’s signature hues of yellow, bronze, white, and red, mums, plus lavender and white varieties decorate the entire 65-acre estate property—hanging in baskets, displayed in spheres and towers, and cascading off of the bridge and estate home’s balconies.

It’s a spectacular display, and each year guests enjoy wandering the beautiful Gardens and taking in fall in all of its orange and golden-hued glory. Sure, it’s still a little too warm for hot cocoa while you stroll, but it’s the South, so a sweet tea from Magnolia Café (which is located on the property) will do just fine.

A Season for Memory-Making

Bring your family to Bellingrath Gardens and Home this November for the 55th Annual Fall Outdoor Cascading Chrysanthemums event, and be sure to tour the home as well. The 15-room 10,500 square-foot home was built in 1935, but its brick, ironwork, and the antiques inside date back even earlier. Tours are available daily and offer guests a unique insight into what “modern” living was like in the mid-1900s.

Visit Bellingrath.org for more information about peak blooming times and to learn more about tours and other seasonal events at the Gardens.
