Mobile Celebrates with MoonPie Style

MoonPie, Mobile, Alabama

Downtown Mobile is a unique metropolitan area if there ever was one. Mobile is what you get when you take a historic city with a storied past (and the architecture that goes with it) and combine it with a bustling port, growing art community, a budding music scene, mouth-watering dining options, plus a healthy dose of good old-fashioned hospitality. All that and more is why so many people are flocking to the area for a weekend or extended vacation. Mobile’s holiday events are magical, but there’s no better way to end 2018 than by watching a giant MoonPie drop in the city that was Born to Celebrate.

If there’s one thing Mobilians know how to do well, it’s throw a party. The city comes alive during Mardi Gras, hardly a weekend goes by that there isn’t a cookoff or food festival taking place, and live music and entertainment abound. So, it should come as no surprise that on New Year’s Eve, the streets of Mobile will be filled with merry crowds ready to countdown to 2019.

Mobile’s MoonPie Drop takes place each year on New Year’s Eve where 50,000 attendees take to the streets to ring in the New Year. In true Port City style, the event is family-friendly and features fun attractions such as the world’s largest MoonPie cake, a second line parade, live entertainment and an all-star firework show! The 2018 party will include a headliner performance from Sister Sledge! Of course, the signature draw is the 600 pound electric MoonPie that drops at midnight.
